Don't mean to rain on the parade here, (because when it comes to summer '74 I'll listen to just about anything) but I actually find this show to be somewhat overrated. Don't get me wrong, there are some very fine moments, particularly most of the ones you mentioned. But overall I find this show just a bit too sleepy and not as inspired as other performances from June such as 6/16, 6/18, 6/23, or in particular the Dick's picks of the 26th and 28th.

The Eyes I found especially disappointing, it never really takes off, just sort of noodling away into nothing, and the post-song jamming is rather shaky as well. This being my favorite jam workout for '74 can put a damper on a show for me. My overall rating for this show is 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Again, this is just the way I hear things...and we all know what opinions are like, so don't let it spoil this show for anyone ;)

Don't worry, coming from you, a different take on the enjoyment of this show is welcome. I love reading your reviews, by the way. Besides it's a lot better than the crap my wife comes out with when she decides to slam what I'm listening to on any given day.

Back to this Springfield show. I think I picked this time and show to write about because I was just in the mood for a little rave up of one that I enjoy. I hardly think it is the best show of the tour by any stretch, but it is fine vintage 1974. And I really do love that Playing>UJB>Playing. There sure are lots of great Eyes and your criticism is taken. For me, on my listen to it yesterday, I liked it when they just got all apaced and it drifted into the asteroid belt to get knocked apart piece by piece by space dust and rock. But I know what you mean, could have been a better Eyes all around.
